Hello, my name is Cody, and I’m with Catawba Attachments. I’m here to introduce our Catawba 55 Rake Grapple. One of the great features of the Catawba 55 is that we didn’t sacrifice strength for weight. This lightweight grapple is designed for compact tractors and is perfect for various projects, whether it’s clearing brush, moving rocks, or digging up roots.
We designed the lid so you can actually back-drag loose material. We’ve also added a hard stop on the cylinders, so when you have the lid open and pull back, the cylinders aren’t damaged, and the grapple’s integrity is maintained. This makes certain that you can confidently use the product.
As for the teeth, we’ve used a bent-tooth design laminated together to prevent bending. When you’re digging in the dirt, these teeth won’t bend or cause issues down the road. They stay straight, rip out roots effectively, and help you complete your project without problems. Another unique feature is the tooth bar that spans the length of the grapple. When digging, the bar, along with the top teeth on the lid, grips the material, making sure it doesn’t slip out of the grapple.

In terms of hydraulics, the Catawba 55 features a 2×6 cylinder, with hoses routed behind a protective piece of material. These hoses are safeguarded through a channel that runs to the center, where they connect to your tractor. The grapple comes standard with our 1/2-inch style couplings, which are compatible with most tractors. If you have a different coupling style, we can accommodate it, whether it’s flat-face or 3/8-inch. Hooking up is quick and easy so that you can get to work.
We also use a tube blazer to tab through parts for added strength. The cylinder mount is tabbed all the way through the tube, which makes the grapple stronger and ensures the cylinder isn’t just riding on a tab at the back of the tube. This design also helps locate the cylinder hinge points, making sure that every product we make is consistent.
At Catawba, we focus on quality, consistency, and producing strong parts that won’t break the bank. We’ve also added a hill on the back end of the grapple. This allows you to unhook the grapple while it stands, making it easier to hook up. Many grapples don’t have this feature, and you often end up fighting to hook them up. With ours, you can set it down, lift your levers, and it’s ready to go. When you want to use it again, drive in, hook up, and you’re good to go without any hassle.
The grapple also includes three greaseable hinge points. We use durable tubing that makes the bushings extremely strong, and each pivot point has a grease fitting. This feature extends your grapple’s lifespan.

We also use Hardox on the lid, with 1 1/2 “schedule 80 pipe at the bottom and Hardox bent tooth plates. For the main runners, we use 2″ x 3″ x 3/16″ tubing. The result is a lightweight yet strong product that gets the job done.
