Catawba Landscape Rake — Features, Hitch Options & Maintenance

All right, guys — the Catawba Landscape Rake is our heavy-duty rake for cleanup, driveway work, and light pushing tasks. It combines a formed 3/8-inch tine bar, replaceable tines, and heavy hitch options to give reliable spring action and long service life in daily farm and property use.
Key Features

TThe formed 3/8-inch tine bar (not a simple angle bar) is designed to slot and hold tines so each can flex and provide spring action in use. We use carriage head bolts so you can easily remove and replace individual tines; compatible replacement tines are available in the Catawba parts store.
Other construction highlights you’ll notice: laminated gauge wheels with two-set-screw height adjustment, grease points (including inside the swivel), a solid 2-inch shaft holding the assembly, and reinforced top-link plates. The unit is heavy-duty and compatible with quick-hitch systems.
Hitch & Compatibility
Two hitch options are available: a fixed hitch (Category 1) and a swivel hitch. The swivel adds pivot points so you can offset the rake for roadside or edge work. It is compatible with Category 1 and Category 2 using step pins for hookup. The rake is also compatible with quick-hitch systems — see our post on Quick Hitch: A Must-Have Time Saver for hookup tips.
If you’re trying to decide between a swivel rake and a fixed landscape rake, we break that choice down in more detail here: When to Use a Swivel Rake vs a Fixed Landscape Rake: A Practical Catawba Guide. This article sticks to what each rake does and how it fits into everyday work.

Adjustment & Maintenance
The landscape rake offers 10 adjustment points (five along the main frame) to fine-tune working angle. Without gauge wheels, the head can rotate 360°. If gauge wheels are fitted, remove them before fully rotating the head for use as a push blade.
Keep the swivel and other moving parts greased using the grease fittings already built into the rake. The gauge wheels are adjusted by loosening the two set screws, moving the wheels where you want them, and tightening the screws back down. To change the swivel angle, pull the pin, rotate the section into position, then reinstall and lock the pin.
If you need replacement items, we carry compatible parts in the Catawba shop: 2 Hole Landscape Rake Tine and Category 1&2 Step Pin.
Using the Rake: Quick Tips

Effective settings and habits to get the most from the rake:
- Gravel drives: Put the gauge wheels on and set them so the rake just catches the loose material instead of digging too deep. Tighten the set screws once the height looks right.
- Pushing material: Take the gauge wheels off and swing the rake head around into the push position before you start moving material.
- Offset pulls: Use the swivel hitch when you need to reach beyond the tractor’s normal path, such as pulling debris back from a road edge or fence line.
- Transporting: Before you head to another work area, make sure the swivel is locked and the pins are fully seated.
- Storage: Lower the built-in stand before unhooking the tractor. Once the pin is in place, leave the rake upright so the tines are not sitting under unnecessary weight.
Check the carriage head bolts and tines from time to time, especially after a rough job. Replace worn tines with matching parts. After heavy use, add grease to the swivel and other moving points so everything is ready the next time you hook up.
Ordering & Options
Options include fixed or swivel hitch, optional gauge wheels, and replacement tines. The swivel-hitch model is constructed for wider compatibility (Category 1 & 2) and adds useful flexibility for larger tractors and offset work.
